Read the entire article before saying that it might be the largest diamond for the largest one to be discovered was 3108 carats in weight. Apparently, this is the 20th largest stone ever discovered and the sad part is that it would dethrone our beloved Kohinoor by 45 carats when the finally polished version becomes available. It hasn’t been given a name so let us try doing it.

@ Atul what name would you suggest?
I think Shaan-e-noor would b good. I saw the Kohinoor and believe me it did not relate, becoz the crown that houses it, was bewitched by other glam pieces, that it did not create a spark. Also the conveyor belt also moves so fast in the Tower, that you need to keep coming back to the top of the line, if you need to catch a proper glimpse.

Oh my god! That is gigantic! This is such a brilliant find. Oh this is from Letseng Mine, in Lesoth, I thought it would be from diamond mine in eastern Siberia (Mirny). That’s the world’s largest diamond mine. That place is frightening because the air there is so deep that the surrounding air zone is closed for helicopters after a few accidents when they were ’sucked in’ by downward air flow. Scary huh.. but this news is awesome. Thanks for posting it Nishi!

So you are going to own this one? Then I invite you to my birthday party. LOL!Koh-i-noor has historical significance and this one has its own. 478 carats diamond is unbelievable yaar. Really, it’s huge and terribly beautiful as well. We need a closer view of this diamond, not a smaller one like this.

Carat is the measurement of purity. One carat means 4 percent purity. 24 carat gold jewellery means 96 percent purity.
The diamond has been mined. It still remains to be cut and polished. Lets wait for the end result.
