I really don’t understand why this news link never made it to the home page inspite of getting 4 stars, whereas all articles dealing with pseudo-religious sentiments and various cut and paste copies from various articles promptly make it to the headlines. This is a recent trend, but unfortunately its true.

maybe that is what people want to read? About pseudo-religious sentiments? Though, such articles have been flogged to death, esp in this forum

Actually, Nishi, I don’t think people wanted to read that kind, except that there has been a glut of it.

This is a very important post that you shared with us. It’s only now that I got to check the pics. I didn’t see your post earlier. Maybe because like Reshmi noticed, it remained on the sidelines. I just happened to be at the live page and saw it there.

Please keep coming up with worthwhile materials, Nishi!

Congratulations!

Of course I agree! We think alike! Hehe... I’m sorry if I haven’t been wandering about in the pages of Insta. It takes a long time for the pages to roll over. And, if you notice, the you-know-whos have been taking almost all of my precious Insta time lately. (And to think that it takes me 9 tries average to post and repost comments because they vanish after sending!).

But ok I promise to pay more attention to Reshmi from now on!! Please ping! me in my inbox for any new articles of yours.

Heart-touching, Penetrating! Really many of these pictures make me cry. I am not that much sentimental, but feel so bad after visiting the link. Human history have thousands examples of cruelty, barbarism, hunger and pathetic life. Most of them are belonging to the far past. But still look lively, invoking.

@Thank you everyone who has dropped by. Seeing the glut of religion-based posts I was feeling disheartened, but all your comments prove that Insta is a active platform of sharing various different kinds of information/ posts and not just about religion.

But yes! I forgot to tell that the last two images are very good. We find some consolation for the depresseed mood. The ”Earthrise” and the ”First Flight” are examples of something very pleasant in our history. So I feel optimistic after vising the last two photos.....the world is not all of chaos and misery. It’s just like sparkling light on the dark cloud!

Great photographs travel beyond time and firmly imprint an age, which history has passed by.

Nishi, that is a gem of a link that you have post out.

Lest we forget, what times the history of mankind has been through, these photographs will remind and educate every visitor of the highs and lows of life itself.

The photographs were very impacting and soul-stirring. They just set one thinking of life, people and humankind. These snaps cover the entire gamut - ugly, horror, misery, starvation, compassion and invention.
The initial snaps make u wonder if the crowd and persons involved are really human. The lynching of couples who went against the racial constraints is prevalent even today, albeit on basis of caste. The crowd in the snap seemed normal decent folk. But, such cruelty and calm in the face of such brutality and grotesque facing them. Starvation and misery is spread across the world. The picture of a vulture trailing a dying child was like a slap in the face. Its an irony that while people in one part of the world die of starvation and want, there are others who seem to have abundant resources to use in warfare. The photo of a young soldier breaking down on learning that the bag next to him consists of his dead friend reveals the other side of the wars. The soldiers present a very demonic side to the enemy ; they are patriotic heroes for their countrymen. But, what has to be realised is that they are basically normal youngsters pushed into a war to assauge the egos of a few. The photos towards the end have a silver lining. They give out a ray of hope; that all is not doomed and mankind may yet be saved. It is just that the images of humanity must be prominently broadcast more. The snap of a fireman removing his gloves before handling a child speaks of compassion in the face of calamity. The snap of Einstein shows his childlike innocence. The snaps of the wright brothers/ Appollo show the innovation and progress made by humans over the decades/century. They show that given the intellect and resourcefulness of the human, the world should have been a very comfortable place to live in. It is only when humans forget this and expend their energy to strife in the name of race, religion, caste etc, that we feel degraded. Man is the highest of all animals, but he often degrades to their, and also below their level.
But, there is hope and prayer and God.
