If Buddhism were to die out in Japan, why would a Buddhist shed a tear ? I accept Buddhism as (a) way of life and understanding. Could Buddhism, which professes to a noble non-attachment to things in the world, be so noble as to be non-attached to it’s self ? All things must pass, and a desire for indefinite continuity will only give birth to more suffering... religions, too, must pass...

Buddhism may be gaining currency in the West with a host of Hollywood celebrities taking up the religion and practicing it like Steven Seagal and Richard Gere. Some religions and cults had become a fashion in the past like ISKON in the past. Now it is Buddhism and Kabbalah. The serious and traditional practitioners of Buddhism is dying in Japan and China and in countries like India, the Hindu untouchables are converting to it.

@Hasibul, in India a lot of so-called Hindu untouchables are converting to Christianity and Islam, not really so much to Buddhism.
